Ardsley's Vein Center Doctor on Varicose Vein Treatment as New Data Emerge
New 24-month results presented at The VEINS 2026 show an 88.1% ulcer healing rate with VenaSeal in advanced vein disease. An Ardsley vein practice explains why varicose veins are worth checking early.
New research presented at a national vein conference this month is drawing attention to the late stages of vein disease. The VIVA Foundation, a not-for-profit organization focused on vascular medicine, announced the late-breaking clinical trial results from The VEINS 2026 conference at Bellagio Las Vegas on Oct. 4, 2026, after sessions on October 3 and 4.
One study, presented by Manj Gohel, MD, followed patients with venous leg ulcers, a group the researchers note is often excluded from clinical research. Across 17 sites in the United States and Europe, 125 participants were treated with the VenaSeal closure system alongside wound and compression therapy. The ulcer healing rate through the 24-month visit was 88.1%, and the median time to healing was 92 days.
In Ardsley, Vein Center Doctor treats varicose veins at 1 Bridge St., 1st Floor Suite #1, accessible from the Saw Mill River Parkway. The practice describes varicose veins as veins that develop when one-way valves inside the vein fail to close properly, and notes that without treatment, venous insufficiency may progress to open wounds known as venous leg ulcers.
Every patient begins with a free vein screening that includes duplex ultrasound imaging, and a screening takes about 15 minutes. Treatment options in Ardsley include radiofrequency ablation (RFA), performed as an outpatient procedure typically in under 45 minutes; VenaSeal, which uses medical-grade adhesive without heat or tumescent anesthesia; sclerotherapy for spider veins and smaller varicose veins; and compression therapy.
Dr. Rahul Sood leads diagnosis and treatment at Vein Center Doctor and has performed more than 10,000 vein procedures. The Ardsley location serves southern Westchester County, where residents of Eastchester, Elmsford, Scarsdale, Tarrytown, Thornwood and White Plains drive less than 20 minutes to reach it. Most major insurance plans are accepted, and the team verifies benefits before each appointment.
"Many people live with heavy, aching legs for years before they ask about them. Varicose veins are often the visible sign of a valve problem underneath, and a free screening with ultrasound shows a patient where they stand before anything progresses," said a spokesperson for Vein Center Doctor.
Varicose Vein Treatment Checklist
- Note when leg heaviness, aching or swelling is worst, such as after long periods of standing.
- Ask whether the screening includes a duplex ultrasound to check for venous reflux.
- Watch for skin changes near visible veins, such as darkening or dryness.
- Bring your insurance details so benefits can be verified before treatment.
- Ask which option fits the vein involved, from sclerotherapy to RFA or VenaSeal.
